EPFL  >  Master programs, ... > Programmes and De...

EPFL offers 19 programmes of study leading to the master's degrees, in line with the Bologna process. In 2003 and 2004, EPFL revamped its study plans to ensure that graduates enjoy maximum mobility and international employment opportunities.

The new programmes offer greater flexibility with regard to choice of subjects, more trans-disciplinary perspectives and some novel re-orientation opportunities towards other scientific domains. And with its College of Management of Technology, EPFL has solidified its offering in technology and entrepreneurial management, a domain of strategic importance for business.

Structure of the Masters Programmes

Teaching at EPFL is organized into five schools and one college:

The programmes begin with coursework and culminate in a major final research project.

Academic year starts in September (September 21st for 2010/2011). See the academic calendar for coming years.

Minors

A specialisation consists of a set of courses allowing students to gain deep knowledge in a specific sub-domain of their discipline (Major). A specialisation requires obtaining an additional 30 credits ECTS.

A Minor is a complementary education of 30 credits ECTS in a discipline other than the Major, aiming to open up the educational and career perspectives. The minors offered at the EPFL are either multidisciplinary or complementary to the engineering education (i.e. Minor in Management of Technology and Entrepreneurship (MTE)). Each minor is in principle offered to the students of several sections.

PDM = Master Project

ECTS = European Credit Transfer System

Specialisations and Minors are duly mentioned in the Diploma Supplement.
