Financial Support

  • EPFL excellence scholarships
  • Swiss Government scholarships
Through the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS), the Swiss Government offers a limited number of grants to foreign students wishing to do a part of their training at a Swiss university.

EPFL Scholarships

EPFL offers a limited (though increasing) number of scholarships at the Master level to students with outstanding academic records.

How to proceed?
Candidates to such a scholarship can apply in the course of their electronic application procedure for the Master programme.

Eligibility
Anyone holding a Bachelor's degree is eligible to apply to the EPFL Masters Programmes and by consequence to a scholarship. The selection of candidates and the granting of the scholarships is done based solely on the evaluation of the academic records of the candidates.

What's in a scholarship?
Each scholarship comprises (a) a certificate stating the academic merit of the scholar; (b) a financial package of CHF 16'000 per academic year at most, (thus, a maximum of CHF 32'000 for a two-year Master) which may be granted as follows depending on the financial situation of the scholar:

  • For those students with a proven financial need, a total or partial coverage of the estimated study costs for the foreseen period of studies.
  • OR
  • For those students with no financial need, a fixed sum of maximum CHF 5'000 as a contribution to the realisation of a project in another institution/laboratory/company.

PS The above-mentioned policy is valid for applications concerning the academic year 2010/2011
